"I have loved every minute of my time at Genesis. In fact, although I have taken the long road to finishing, I am sad that my time as a student at Genesis is over. The support of the administration has been top notch. The curriculum is broad and very engaging. I truly enjoyed every class that was given. Whether you are hoping to start a new career helping others with their natural journey, or just gaining information for your family's future, Genesis is the place!"

WHAT IS A TRADITIONAL NATUROPATH?
Traditional naturopaths are not licensed medical practitioners and do not diagnose or prescribe treatments for disease. We are natural health professionals that use the client consult to consider the whole person, looking beyond presenting symptoms to uncover the root cause of their imbalance.
Foundational to naturopathy is the belief that that body is designed to heal itself given the support it needs. It takes into consideration the whole of an individual’s being (body, mind, and spirit) as well as the very important emotional component. Therefore, as a traditional naturopath, it is important that you have an in-depth regard of the physical, emotional, nutritional, historical, and environmental factors which may have created toxicity, deficiency, and/or weakness within your client. In addition to recognizing your client’s needs, you will also have the privilege and responsibility of determining how to safely guide them on a journey back to health and vitality. Our privilege and responsibility is to provide you with a holistic, professional level naturopathy course – a level of training that will prepare you to serve the public safely and effectively.
The following section is from nccih.nih.gov/health/naturopathy
Education and licensing differ for the three types of naturopathic practitioners:
Naturopathic physicians generally complete a 4-year, graduate-level program at one of the North American naturopathic medical schools accredited by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education, an organization recognized for accreditation purposes by the U.S. Department of Education. Some U.S. states and territories have licensing requirements for naturopathic physicians; others don’t. In those jurisdictions that have licensing requirements, naturopathic physicians must graduate from a 4-year naturopathic medical college and pass an examination to receive a license. They must also fulfill annual continuing education requirements.
- Traditional naturopaths, also known simply as “naturopaths,” may receive training in a variety of ways. Training programs vary in length and content and are not accredited by organizations recognized for accreditation purposes by the U.S. Department of Education. Traditional naturopaths are not eligible for licensing. Licensing is a legal term for medical doctors. Traditional Naturopaths may choose professional accreditation/certification but it is entirely optional – not required to open an office or see clients.
- Other health care providers (such as physicians, osteopathic physicians, chiropractors, dentists, and nurses) sometimes offer naturopathic treatments, functional medicine, and other holistic therapies, having pursued additional training in these areas. Training programs vary.
The states listed below have relatively strict laws that require state-issued licenses to practice – use the name naturopathic/naturopathy.
- Alaska
- Arizona
- Connecticut
- Hawaii
- Massachusetts
- Rhode Island
- Kansas
- Maine
- Washington, D.C
- New Hampshire
- Maryland
- Montana
- North Dakota
- Oregon
- Utah

What is Naturopathy? The following section is from betterhealth.vic.gov.au
Naturopathy takes a holistic approach to wellness. Naturopathy supports a person to live a healthy lifestyle. The foundations of naturopathy are based on the importance of a healthy diet, clean fresh water, sunlight, exercise and stress management. Naturopathy aims to educate the person to look after their own health and the health of their family, minimizing symptoms of any illness, supporting the body’s capacity to heal, and balancing the body so that illness is less likely to occur in the future.
A naturopath employs a range of non-invasive techniques and these include (but are not limited to):
- nutrition and dietary advice. A poor diet stops the body from functioning well and a build-up of toxins can lead to a range of illnesses. Whole, fresh and unprocessed foods are recommended
- herbal medicine – herbs can support the body
- homeopathy – homeopathic treatments are used to stimulate the body
- hydrotherapy (water therapy). For instance, the use of hot and cold compresses might be used for certain conditions to influence the flow of blood and body heat
- physical therapies – such as massage, Bowen, acupressure, bio-puncture or mechanotherapy
- kinesiology and integrated bio-dynamics (IBD)
- counselling techniques – emotional problems and stress can interfere with the healing process. Counselling techniques can include stress management strategies and life coaching.
